The lesser known temple of Banteay Chhmar and its associated temples, are just as profound as the Angkorian complex and were even known as The Pearl of the 13th century. Take your time exploring the province and enjoy an overnight stay with a local family in the Cambodian countryside.
7am : Depart in your private vehicle to the province of Banteay Meanchey. Discover forgotten and less-known temples in a preserved environment.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted by the host and shown around your accommodation for the evening. After dropping off your belongings, continue the momentum of the day by taking a guided tour of the Banteay Chhmar temple, The Pearl of the 13th Century.
Enjoy lunch with your host.
After lunch, jump on a Koyon (local tractor) tour of the surrounding area, before making your way back for sunset.
Listen to the soft sounds of Khmer music drift over the paddy fields as you take your dinner within the grounds of Banteay Chhmar temple.
Overnight : Sleep at your host’s home.
After breakfast, you and your guide will head to explore the nearby satellite temples.
Lunch will be served near the Baray (Angkorian reservoir).
As you make your way back to Siem Reap, visit Soieries du Mekong to see an array of exquisite silks made by local craftspeople (closed on week-ends and bank holidays)
Finally, take some well deserved rest as your driver ferries you back to Siem Reap in comfort.
The villagers contribute to the eco-tourism activities set up by the community centre. The objective is to generate income for families and facilitate access to Khmer culture for travelers
